The women’s league final and the spectacular start of the Junior NBA-FEB League have covered the FEB’s agenda recently intensifying our enthusiasm for basketball.
In Girona we lived an exciting women’s league final. The Spar City Lift was the deserved winner of a series with two great teams that closed a brilliant women’s basketball season. This one was one of the best leagues in recent years and there has been – and surely will be – room for new projects to develop. The Queen’s Cup and these playoffs games for the title have proven that our women’s basketball has an excellent sporting level. In Torrejón and also in Salamanca and Girona last week, we have had the satisfaction of seeing bleachers absolutely packed full of fans. We re also very satisfied with the FEB’s media momentum. Teledeporte’s coverage has given very positive results.
I would like to convey my congratulations to the Spar City Lift Girona for this historic success. Congratulations to Perfumerias Avenida because to reach the final is already a great success but also for the team’s development through the years. Congratulations as well, to all the other teams and clubs that played with great effort and excitement throughout the whole season.
We hope that all this will set up the basis for the future growth of women’s competition in particular and women’s basketball in general. Our Universo Mujer Project is already under way and we are already working with the exciting horizon of the Women’s World Cup 2018 in mind.
We are also every excited about the new Junior NBA-FEB League that started last weekend in Zaragoza, Mataró and Coslada with the participation of more than two thousand young boys and girls and basketball legends like Amaya Valdemoro, Jorge Garbajosa and the Women’s National Team Coach Lucas Mondelo. Our efforts, our projects in the promotion of basketball and all the values of our sport are global and have no limits. In this first edition of the Junior NBA-FEB League we already have 90 teams participating and thousands of fans enjoying the “drafts” and the opening days. We are sure that they will live an unforgettable sporting experience in the next weeks with the hope of being able to participate in a great final fest.
